Styling tricks to appear slimmer and taller

With the right cuts, colours and proportions, you can achieve a lot visually – like a few extra centimetres in height or a more streamlined silhouette. And all without diets or high heels.

As summer approaches and outfits get lighter, we naturally want to show ourselves from our best side. Those extra winter kilos around the waist, hips or thighs can be cleverly concealed with a few simple styling tricks – helping you feel great and start the new season with confidence.

Fashion isn't about hiding – it’s about supporting you. It’s all about knowing which styling tools are available to you, especially when you feel the need to downplay certain areas. For more joy when getting dressed – and a better feeling in your own skin.

Wide-legged pants
They create balanced proportions by balancing the lower leg area with the extra fabric. The loose cut gently conceals curves around the hips and buttocks. The result is a slimmer look and an elongated leg line.

High-waisted = Appear taller
High-waisted pants and skirts visually elongate the legs and make the figure appear more stretched overall.

The power of the waist
Tuck the top into the waistband or opt for cropped tops that end at waist height. This visually creates longer legs and defines the silhouette.

Tone-on-tone instead of color blockig
Choose shoes in the same color as your pants or skirt – this prevents visual interruption of your silhouette, elongates the legs, and makes you look taller and slimmer.

The right skirt length makes the difference
Skirts that end just below the knee are more flattering than midi skirts for shorter women who want to look taller. For midi skirts, a kitten heel in the same color as the skirt works wonders – it visually elongates the silhouette.

Monochrome uutfits for extra inches
An outfit in one continuous color – or various shades of the same color – creates a visual unity. It stretches the body, doesn’t interrupt the silhouette, and looks particularly stylish.

Neckline and collar shapes
A V-neck or wide round neckline visually elongates the upper body and makes the neck appear longer. On the other hand, avoid turtlenecks or high-neck tops – they can quickly make you look shorter.

Use vertical lines
Large prints, wide belts, or horizontal stripes interrupt the vertical line and add visual bulk. Better: fine patterns or narrow vertical stripes – they elongate the silhouette and make you look slimmer.

Pointed shoes
Pointed shoes visually elongate the leg and create a slender foot.

Choose pockets carefully
Large patch pockets on pants or skirts visually add bulk, especially around the hips and buttocks. Better: small, discreetly sewn-in pockets for a slimmer silhouette.

Choose small accessories
Small bags, delicate belts, and fine jewelry create a more refined look without overwhelming. Large, voluminous accessories can quickly "weigh you down," especially if you're not particularly tall.
