These three key movements define fall 2026 (1/3)

First movement: Easy Heritage. The preppy look takes a step back this season, moving noticeably towards Heritage. Shaped by traditional craftsmanship and functional longevity, this trend draws on classic wardrobe elements and reinterprets them in a modern, understated context with a strong sense of comfort.

  • Checks remain ubiquitous – whether Glen check, windowpane or houndstooth. With the strong focus on comfort, the pattern loses some of its usual formality. Rendered in soft knits, jersey and wool, checks feel noticeably more relaxed, lending your outfits an effortless elegance.
  • Movement in the knitwear: After seasons dominated by smooth, fine-gauge knits, a renewed sense of texture and liveliness is making its way into knitwear. For your wardrobe, this means rich tactile qualities and a fascinating variety of textures such as herringbone, cable knit, ribbing, honeycomb and Argyle. Coordinated ensembles are a particular highlight – whether a knitted skirt paired with a matching top or a sophisticated knitted two-piece with trousers.
  • High-quality faux fur: Faux fur remains a key element of the season, appearing primarily in sporty-elegant blousons and coats. The finishes are remarkably convincing in both appearance and feel. Surfaces are now slightly more shaggy, giving the pieces a natural, lively texture. A broad colour palette also offers versatile options for everyday styling.
  • A new take on leather: Alongside suede, smooth Nappa leather is gaining importance again – preferably in deep burgundy and warm shades of brown. Favourites include styles with a subtle bubble hem or cropped, boxy trench jackets, which create the perfect counterpoint to wide-leg trousers.
  • Volume and variety in trousers: The popular O-silhouette remains indispensable. Barrel-leg trousers break away from traditional lines and, through a skilful play with proportions, give your outfit a modern, dynamic feel. At the same time, straight H-shapes and flared A-lines retain their place in the wardrobe – allowing you to choose the perfect silhouette depending on your body shape and the occasion.
  • Cropped Jacket: Despite the emergence of new hourglass silhouettes, the classic blazer cannot quite compete with the cropped jacket. With the many variations of wide-leg trousers this season, the short, boxy-cut jacket simply creates the perfect balance, resulting in a harmonious silhouette.
